Pets feel the heat just as much as we do, especially under their fur coats,
Here are a few ideas to help your pet keep its cool
- Make sure that your pet has plenty of cool water available, move the water bowl into the shade Try ice cubes in the water bowl
- Walks in the cool of the day and quiet activities during the middle of the day
- Cool water in a spray bottle, or sponge
- Frozen peanut butter or other treats in a ‘Kong’
- Cool wet towel on the tiles to sit on, or in front of the fan or air con.
- Make sure that your pet has a sheltered spot to get out of the sun
- Use an ice-cream tub to make a dog icy pole, freeze water or weak chicken or beef stock in the container overnight and tip it out onto the lawn before work.
